Thanks very much for the heads-up on the Winterthur exhibit. I ran over over to Minneapolis Institute of Arts and thoroughly enjoined the room dedicated to Pennsylvania German arts, including eight frakturs. The magnificent Strickler Zierschrift was the high point for me ("This paper is my field and the pen is my plow"). Overheard at the exhibit: "It looks like Scandinavian folk art." That is high praise in these parts!
